Hanex Hanex is an acrylic solid surface made by Hyundai L&C in South Korea. It’s solid all the way through, non-porous and available in 86 colours, from clean solids and terrazzo effects through to translucent tones that work well with backlighting. What sets Hanex apart from other solid surfaces is its fire performance. It achieves Euroclass B-s1, d0 – the highest interior fire rating available for this type of material. This makes it a strong choice for commercial and public buildings where fire compliance is a hard requirement. We fabricate and install Hanex for projects across the UK. If you’d like to know if it’s the right fit, get in touch and we’ll give you a straight answer. What makes Hanex a good choice? A genuinely impressive fire rating Hanex carries a Euroclass B-s1, d0 fire classification under EN 13501-1. That’s the top tier for interior solid surfaces. It doesn’t spread flame, produces very little smoke and drops nothing flaming. Most acrylic solid surfaces don’t reach this level. If fire performance is on the brief, Hanex is worth a look. Eye-catching colours and finishes The range spans solids, terrazzo-inspired effects, pearlescent neutrals and translucent shades. Because the colour runs through the full depth of the material, it won’t fade, chip or wear through. What you specify is what you’ll still have in ten years. Impressive hygiene credentials Hanex is non-porous, tested for bacterial resistance and certified for food contact. Liquids sit on the surface rather than soaking in, and there are no seams for dirt to collect in. It holds up well to regular cleaning, which makes it a practical choice for anywhere that gets heavy daily use. Scratches and stains can be repaired Hanex is solid all the way through, so surface marks don’t go anywhere near the colour. If a scratch or stain does appear, a fabricator can usually sand and buff it back on site. It’s also resistant to graffiti, UV and most common chemicals, so tends to stay looking the part without much upkeep. The joins disappear Hanex sheets bond together with virtually invisible seams – useful for large continuous runs of cladding or worktop where visible joins would interrupt the finish. It’s also thermoformable, so it can be curved and shaped for more complex designs. Hanex at a glance 86 colours Strong fire rating Non-porous Antibacterial and hygienic Seamless joins Thermoformable Chemical, stain and UV resistant Repairable on site 10-year guarantee Hanex colours and finishes The Hanex range covers 86 colours across four families: clean solids, terrazzo effects, pearlescent neutrals and translucent shades. Solids run from whites and warm neutrals through to deeper, richer tones. The terrazzo collection has a more contemporary feel, while the pearlescent neutrals have subtle depth that shifts in different light. The translucent shades are made for backlighting – wall panels, reception features and bar fronts where light is part of the scheme. The colour goes all the way through the sheet, so there’s no coating to wear off or chip away. Working with DFMK on your Hanex project We’ve been fabricating and installing premium solid surfaces for over 40 years. Hanex is a material we work with regularly, and getting the most from it – especially on commercial-scale installs – comes down to how it’s fabricated and fitted. We can handle everything from the initial quote through to fit-out: templating, CNC fabrication, hand-finishing and installation. Quotes come back within 24 hours and we can turn around projects quickly, with no compromise on quality. About DFMK FAQs What is Hanex made from? It’s an acrylic solid surface – methyl methacrylate and poly methyl methacrylate resins filled with alumina trihydrate and other mineral compounds. The high mineral content is what gives it its fire performance and antibacterial properties. Because the colour runs through the material, it can be repaired without showing a patch. What fire rating does Hanex have? Euroclass B-s1, d0 under EN 13501-1 – the highest available for an interior solid surface. It means Hanex doesn’t contribute significantly to fire spread, produces minimal smoke and releases no flaming droplets. It’s approved for use in airports and rail stations, and it’s one of the stronger choices on the market if fire compliance is a firm requirement. Is Hanex suitable for healthcare or commercial kitchens? Yes. It’s non-porous, antibacterial and certified for food contact. It handles regular disinfection without degrading, which is why it gets specified for healthcare, clinical environments, education and commercial food preparation. How does Hanex compare to other solid surfaces like Corian? On the core performance – non-porous, repairable, seamless joins, solid colour throughout – Hanex sits alongside other premium acrylic solid surfaces. Where it stands apart is fire performance: its Euroclass B rating is higher than most. If that’s important to your spec, it’s a meaningful difference. We work with several solid surfaces and are happy to advise on which fits your project best. Can DFMK supply and fit Hanex anywhere in the UK? Yes.
